Light headed , blackouts, sweatting, felling hot then followed by cold feelings please help ....?

Answer:
This could be any number of things causing it but without running medical tests on you no one on here can say what is causing it. See your doc and get this checked out.
This could be about a million things - from something simple like electrolyte imbalance to something serious and potentially life threatening. Your best bet would be to go to a medical professional and be evaluated.

Lice problem?

i just recently got lice and i used a lice shampoo and then i used that special comb that gets rid of lice and i saw some live ones! i used that comb with hot water for 30 minutes and i stopped seeing them, then i vacuumed the room , got a new brush redid my sheets, gota new pillow cover, and sprayed disinfectant spray everywhere, is this enough? should i do more to make them completely go away because i have 8 people in my family and i dont want any of them to get it. what else should i do? should I sleep with like a towel on my head or something?
Answer:
Make sure that any stuffed animals are put in a plastic bag in the garage for at least a month so they all die. Vacuum your mattress and carpets THOROUGHLY, and spray them down with that spray that comes with, or is sold next to, the lice shampoo. Also make sure to do the same to any other furniture in the house that you may have sat on. A towel won't really help because the bugs will just crawl from your head to the towel to the bed and start the whole thing over! Until you're sure they are gone just don't let anyone sit on your bed or anything, and try not to get too close to them. One last thing that you could try, if you can't get rid of them, is to dye your hair. The chemicals from the dye will kill them off right away. Good luck, I know how frustrating it can be!
Put conditioner on your hair, comb through. Then use the tooth comb to carefully comb through. The lice can't grip the hair or scalp because the conditioner makes it too slippery. Thanks, you got me itching now ! Good luck...SPUNKY...You obviously have a problem with your kids being in England, but don't slag off the rest of us. Most of us take daily showers and baths, which has nothing to do with head lice. Lice actually prefer clean heads. Don't use a question on head lice to vent your anger on other issues
You may not have any more lice in your hair but its best to fumigate your house by a pest control team just in case. I believe there is also shampoo that can add fluorescent dye so that remaining lice and nits will show under black light (I don't know were to get it unfortunately.)
My kids has this stupid problem -- ONLY IN ENGLAND, where over 80% of the people get it...Nobody EVER gets it here in the states, go figure... :-P

Go to your doctor and get the shampoo he recommends. Yes, it's a serious pain in the @ss and it burns, but it does work. Get rid of your bed sheets and definitely fog the room.

Sorry to hear you're encountering this problem, unfortunately in "Merry Old England" they still don't have such a thing as daily showers which would probably get rid of the problem overall right off the bat...

Best of luck, cheers !
Wash your hair with RID unless that is what you did use to much no good overkill you know what I mean.

Lexapro advice?

i normally take it at night
but yesterday i took it in the morning
along with my adderall xr.
i've only been on my two meds for two weeks now.
i felt completely funky yesterday.
-every time i stood up my ears started hurting
-i felt like i was going to pass out.
-right eye starting to get red
-really sweating after a 20 minute nap
-bad headache
-really tired
then today i thought i was better
so i showered
i still felt like i was going to pass out
-dark yellow urine
-bad stomach cramps
of course when i tell my mother
she tells me i have the stomach flu
which is kindda bull.

any help?
Answer:
get off lexapro. seriously. i was on that **** and it made me feel worse than i did before i was on it. i would have really bad nightmares on that stuff. ive been off of it for about 3 months now and i feel a whole lot better.
i take tose two meds two wierid
Sounds like a cluster migraine attack. There shouldn't be an interaction between lexapro and Adderal. Check with your doctor or pharmacist. Do not stop the lexapro without consulting your doctor. Start taking it again at night and see if that corrects the problem. Good luck.
I take 20mg of lexapro daily and have never had any side effects with the exception when I first started taking it. Even then it was mild. It consisted of a little light headed, that went away after about a week.
Maybe it is the adderal xr that is causing the problem. I don't know what this med. is for but you need to contact your doctor and let them know what symptoms you are having.
You need to call today!!!! even if it is Saturday!!!!!
lexapro ususally does work better when taken at night because it can make you very sleepy or drowsy. Those are flu like symptoms that you have, but since you are taking two medications, it wouldn't hurt to see your physician.

Levothyroxin?

I just started taking it today for hypothyroid and was wondering if others here are taking it. If so how long have you been taking it? Has it helped? Have you experienced any of the side-effects, if so how bad were they? I felt like throwing it back up as soon as it went down, is that normal?
Answer:
There are no side effects to Levothyroxin but you will start to feel better. I took it for years but have recently been switched to Armour Thyroid.

Be sure you doctor is giving you the right medication because there are several out there that have T3 or T4 or combination thereof.

It is important to know what your are deficient in.

Do not eat soy products. It blocks thyroid medication and will make you even more ill. I had a terrible time and lost a lot of my hair because the doctors did not tell me not to eat soy and I was eating it to avoid symptoms of menopause
I have been on it for five years and have had no problems it starts working after they get your thyroid leveals were they are suposed to be
hello.i;ve been taking it for 6yrs now 50 mg once a day..i;m not sure if its normal for you to feel the way you do.i had no problems when i started taking Levothyroxin..but you really should tell your Doctor about it.sometimes i would get sleepy from it but nothing bad.remember everyone is different.Hope i was of help...take care...

Lets have a big debate!! Do you think drug takers and alchoholics should be entitled to have there children?

I personally say no because alchoholics and junkies have no care about there children and let them live wit no quality in life at all shouldnt they just be taken to a home where they can have some quality of life and deserve things that they need instead of seeing there parents degrading themselves everyday.

(strong views and opinions are welcome)
Answer:
The problem with alcoholics and drug-takers is that their addiction becomes all-consuming, and at the time that they need their next fix or drink, that is all they can think of, and everything else is forgotten.

Bizarrely, though taking hard drugs is considered the greater "sin", children born to heroin addicts can be successfully weaned form their addiction (though it must be a very unpleasant start to life).Children born to alcoholics are damaged for life. They are easily recognisable by their odd-shaped eyes, and have lower IQs and learning difficulties forever.

So I suppose, the proper answer to your question is no. Though I am sure I will be howled down.
Theoretically you have a good point. But there is one major flaw alas. What happens if a couple or a person develops an addiction after the child is born? I know if things get extremely bad the children will be removed, but how would it work that children are removed from their parents? Are you talking out and out sterilization or are you talking forceful removal? Or a combination of both? That last is not such a bad idea but it trespasses on very very scary ground both legally and ethically. As for a case-by-case scenario, that is about as good as it gets, but it also means Big Brother is even more into your life. How would that be done? Monthly check ups and blood tests? Seriously it is not so simple.

Do you recommend the "granny" system they have in China where an old local lady visits weekly to check on you? This is what they do there to ensure a woman is not pregnant after her only child has been born. She knows all of the women’s cycles and is entitled to check on these things. If she finds anything suspicious, or even a first time pregnancy, it is her duty to report to her superior.

What if an addict cleans up? What if she was sterilized and is now clean and leading a good life with a good husband? Should she be banned from parenthood because of a bad past? Often the only motive for a parent sincere on changing their lives is their children. Do you see how this is a double edged sword?

I am not arguing for or against at the moment. I am just trying to imagine how such a thing could be done. I agree that druggies and alkies should not have children. In many cases they should just never procreate. But how is this done without violating the rights of all people in the country? I was a foster mom a few times and I do know the horrific damaged done to children by incompetent neglectful and/or abusive parents.

It is criminal to have a child of seven sit at a dinner table and say they have never had a real cooked meat n potatoes meal.

It is criminal that on visit day the child goes out dressed in a pretty outfit only to return in something ripped and torn, knowing the pretty outfit was hocked to buy booze.

It is criminal when a lovely but broken child sneaks out of bed at night, breaks into the locked drug cabinet and eats all her Ritalin because “maybe people will like me even more” or “because I saw mommy eat pills.” Then turns around and stabs another kid in the arm with scissors for no reason at all!

It is criminal when a child has never learned kindness to animals or other people because their short existence has been so full of fear, pain and neglect.

It is criminal to have to pick up the pieces and undo the harm a few hours can do with these children, as you bring them back around again. It is criminal to have children passed on to the system because their parents have done them so much damage that they will never every be completely right again. You try and you try, and meet some success, but one visit to the parent and it is back to the drawing board.

The tough thing is these kids still love their parents! Often they just live for Mom’s or Dad’s phone call. Sadly, despite all the effort and money and love spent on these children, the greater percentage of them end up following in their parents' footsteps of petty crime and abuse carrying on the vicious cycle to the next generation. There are the occasional miracles but I found they worked best once the parent was completely removed from the child's life but things have to be so bad by then that the damage is almost irreversible to the child.

The more damaged a child is, the more expensive it is to care for it. The caretaker needs more because the danger and attention and the emotional toll are much more severe. There are specialists to see that add up amazingly. These children are often damaged mentally and slower in school, or have a lot to do to catch up with their peers. Which, I might add, easier and easier as the American educational system is being dumbed down by lowed educational standards.

For all the other things that are criminal the worst is the government systematically cutting all funds going into Foster Care. Both parties use patently false lies to cover up their greed. Hurricane Katrina is the latest. They claim the government is broke and so foster care, care to the elderly, and student loans are targeted. At the same time, upper income Americans are being given tax breaks that amount to hundreds of millions of dollars. What are the priorities here?

http://www.democrats.org/a/2005/11/the_m...
http://www.dccc.org/stakeholder/archives...

With fewer and fewer families able to take on fostering these days to lessened income and the generally tougher harsher climate of America, that too would pose a problem. The qualifications of the foster homes and the capabilities of the carers would drop and many of these young victims could easily end up victimized again in their new home.

I cannot see how it can work but it sure would be nice if someone else could and we solved things for these littlest victims of a cruel society.
I thing you should take every case on its own merit. Some people resort to drugs and alcohol due to the stresses and strains of every day life including children, I am not saying this is right, If a person is completely out of control with their problem I think it is then better to take the children into care where they are best taken care of
Hell. Take the kids away from them. If they can't look after themselves then why let them look after children?
I think EVERYONE who wants to have children should have to show they are fit to raise them.
There are heaps of kids that have rubbish quality of life with 'straight' parents, and well raised kids who's parents take drugs and drink.
Putting kids in state/foster care, in no way ensures good quality of life.
No they shouldn't have any right to their children, and they should be sterilized so that they can't breed more. I also think hugely fat people who allow their kids to get fat should have their children removed and placed into a healthy environment.
i do not believe tht EXTREME drug users and alcoholics should have their kids but i do believe that if the gov't takes them away they need to help the adult in need so one day they can have their child. they need help too just just o get locked up in the cell for child abuse.
that's your opinion but what about those parents who do not have a drink/drug problem and they abuse there children.
An addict does not always equal bad parent !

And some care homes/foster homes are really bad
You start by giving your personal opinion,
who made you god, love is the most important thing in a child's life. How can you know what is best in each case.
I don't drink or use drugs but this question has made me so angry.
Just who do you think you are.
People like Hitler thought they could take children away from their parents, and have them brought up as perfect citizens of the Reich.
Where will you stop if get this, take the children of the poor and give them to those with the money to give them a "better way of life"
You appal me (I have edited the line that was here, I accept that was too personal)
(strong views and opinions are welcome)
strong enough opinion for you?
Dont talk shite. smoked gear 35 yrs, and had pancreatitis 3 times, first time father at 49, dont ask a question then answer it with your own opinion, worked hard all my life, consider myself the best dad in the world, would it be better if I mistreated her, fiddled with her, or "borrowed her out" to other people while being sober or not stoned? or maybe I should join a priesthood eh? my little gal has a great qaulity of life,I Just dont drink or smoke in front of her, misses does neither and doesnt allow me to, fuckiin do-gooders, aint got a clue.
I know some that cannot control their habits. There is a stupid line between intoxicated beyond functioning and taking a pill that the government says is good to sell, but not necessarily good for you.
We are a society of substance users.
People change, everything does. Hope for the best, help the ones that are too intoxicated with FDA approved or unapproved substances.
If a human is overly intoxicated they should not be asked to assume the responsibility of caregiver to a child. It is no good for the child or the adult.
Parent is not a entitlement of or by a court, it is an act of love by the individual.

Lethargic...?

I have just been ill with a really bad throat infection and i have had glandular fever i am so lethargic all the time because of it, what can i do to make me have more energy?
Answer:
I would recommend taking a multi vitamin tablet, make sure it is high in all the viatmin B's as these are extremely beneficial in giving you more energy. Also rest as much as you can and try not to exert yourself as this condition could turn into chronic fatigue if you over do it. Try to eat healthy foods and drink plenty of juices and water. Good luck and I hope you feel much better soon.
It takes time to recover, more than you imagine; but soon you will begin to feel more like yourself

Left side tonsil swollen for 4 months?

am a 37 yares old , my left side tonsil is swollen since dec 2 /05,i seen my doc ,took antibiotic 4 10 day then prednison 4 other 10 days, nothing changed,i have also seen a nek dok, was told my trot is normal, but i feel like there is something in my throt, any sugestions?
Answer:
Go to a different doctor - ear/nose/throat specialist. Tonsils don't have much of a function that anyone knows of - the infections are miserable and often go into secondary infections i.e. strep throat, mono, etc. They usually need to come out of they are infected repeatedly. I can see where they other doctor may have been trying hard to avoid the surgery - the older you are when you have the surgery, the harder/riskier it is.
Good luck!
I have a friend who just very recently got a tonsilectomy (removal of tonsils, BTW I don't think that's how you spell it) because she had some kind of growth on her right tonsil. It seems to have solved the problem.

Left Ear hears better than my Right. Why?

Yesterday, I just had wax removed from my ears (at the doctor's), so that shouldn't be the problem here (hopefully).

My problem is that my left ear seems to hear things better than my right. I am almost sure it is not hearing loss, because I am only 16, and I never listen to very loud music or go around loud sounds. When I cover up my left ear and listen, my right ear doesn't seem to pick up the intensities of the sounds that my left ear does. It is not majorly different, but the difference is still there.

Do you have any ideas of what this could be?
Answer:
Hi, I'm an Audiologist

Rarely are our ears (or anything else that we have two of) perfectly symmetrical. Clinically, we consider a difference of 10 deciBels to be symmetrical, but if your hearing is normal, a 10dB difference is noticeable.

While it is generally true that most people have a dominant ear, the dominance is in regards to processing speech and language and is nearly always the Right ear (because Speech and Language are processed in the Left Hemisphere of the brain).

In your case, it's also possible that the doctor wasn't able to remove ALL the wax, especially if some of it is against the eardrum, which could also muffle the sound a little.

If you don't feel as though this difference is having any impact on your day to day life, then don't sweat it. But if it is noticeable during regular activities and not just when self-testing it, then it warrants further investigation. This is especially true if you also have any ringing (tinnitus) or spinning dizziness (vertigo).
Just like you have a dominant hand and a dominant eye, you have a dominant ear. You are probably left handed aren't you?

Leaving contacts in for months at a time....?

My husband leaves has not takn out his contacs for more than a day in about 6 months he even sleeps with them if he does take them out its only to clean them and thats only for a few minutes then they go right back in what could he be doing to his eyes he says they dont bother him and hes tired of me naging....
Answer:
keep nagging him as you will be the one that has too look after him when the idiot goes blind
Well they are his eyes but this is cause for concern. Contacts dry out your eyes bc they don't let your eyes breathe. You need to leave them out from time to time to let your eyes breathe and for them to naturally have moisture. By him not keeping them in a case overnight he is actually not cleaning them, just washing them off. This can leave protein, oils, and invisible debris on them that can harm his cornea (the center of his eye). Maybe next time you should go to his eye doctor with him. He could permanently damage his eyes.
Sometimes I sleep with them in for a few days at a time... but it's not good. Your eyes need oxygen and they get a lot more of it when the contacts are out, which is why you aren't supposed to sleep in them. It increases your risk of infection and I've heard stories of people whose eyes have grown to their contacts and they have to have surgery to remove them and it that can cause blindness. Also, if you try to peel them off when they are dry, as they can get if you don't take the out very often, it can tear off bits of your cornea with it. Some contacts are made so that it's ok to sleep with them but that is noted on the packaging. Is he not changing them for 6 months at a time?! Because that is not ok. Most contacts need to be switched every 2-4 weeks, and if he isn't taking them out for longer than that I'd say he's putting his eyes at risk.
I do the same thing, because Im too lazy and the contact dont bother me at all. But every once in a while when I take them out for cleaning, I leave them in the soultion over night. Maybe you can suggest to your husband that while he is sleeping, he does not need his eyes, so he could put the contacts in the soultion case over night. He should do this at least once per month.
Well - this is an infection and corneal problems waiting to happen.

There are two general types of contact lenses: soft and rigid gas permeable hard. Both have unique benefits and some may even come with a colored tint, as bifocals, or as trifocals.

Soft lenses are usually disposable and can be thrown away after a short period of use (generally every two to four weeks) or daily, depending on the prescription. Being able to have a fresh pair of lenses means less chance of infection, less cleaning, and more comfort, especially for people whose eyes naturally produce more protein that clouds lenses. Soft lenses are made of a soft plastic and are very comfortable because they hold more water than rigid gas permeable lenses. Many of the new materials provide ultraviolet (UV) protection. While most people choose soft lenses because of their benefits, there are also some disadvantages. Soft lenses easily absorb pollutants that can irritate your eyes, like lotion or soap from your hands. They are also more fragile than hard lenses and can rip or tear while cleaning.

The latest revolutions in soft contact lens technology are Daily Disposables and New Silicone Extended Wear Disposables. Daily Disposables are contacts that are only worn one time and then thrown out. The benefits of Daily Disposables include never having to clean your contact lenses, convenient replacement schedule, and reduction of dry eye and irritation problems related to preserved solutions. These lenses are excellent for allergy sufferers.

The Silicone Extended Wear Disposables are made with a new material and can be worn for up to 30 nights and days. The new lenses provide the highest level of oxygen transmissibility (up to six times greater than ordinary lenses). The new silicone material also allows the lens to avoid deposit buildup and reduce dry eye irritation.

Rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses are more rigid than soft lenses and therefore more durable for an active user. This type of hard contact lens is made with silicone polymers, allowing oxygen to circulate to the cornea of the eye. Older versions of hard lenses could not. RGPs maintain their shape better and offer clearer vision with some types of corrections. They are also extremely durable and easy to take care of. Deposits from tears and outside irritants are not as easily absorbed.

If you are considering a RGP lens, you should know that:

* There is a 10-15 times greater risk of developing corneal ulcers, which may damage your vision.
* Sleeping in extended wear contacts may decrease the flow of oxygen to the cornea.
* Undesirable reshaping of the cornea may occur.

To achieve maximum comfort with RGP lenses, you have to wear them everyday.

Colored tints can be added to certain lenses to make them easier to see when handling, enhance or change eye color, and improve contrast for outdoor sports like golf and softball. Contact lenses with novelty effects are available, but should still be handled and cared for like prescription lenses.

The type of vision correction you need, your lifestyle, and the expense will all play roles in your eye care specialist鈥檚 recommendations for the type of contact lenses that you should wear.

Who should NOT wear contacts
Contacts are generally not prescribed for people who:

* Do not have enough tears (dry eye syndrome)
* Are constantly exposed to fumes
* Have a history of viral infection of the cornea

Contact lens care
The care and handling of your contact lenses are critical not only to the life of their use, but also to the safety and health of your eyes. Here are some guidelines, which apply to all contact lens wearers:

* Always wash your hands with warm water and soap before handling your contacts or before touching your eyes. Any residue from lotions, soaps, or chemicals may adhere to the lens, causing pain, irritation, or blurred vision. Dry your hands with a clean towel.
* Wear your contacts as prescribed. Your eye care specialist will recommend a wearing schedule specific to the type of lens you have selected. Only wear your contact lenses for the time recommended.
* Remember that it will take about 10-12 days for your eyes to adjust to either type of contact lens. Not wearing your prescribed contacts will not cause eye disease, but it can cause discomfort, including eyestrain, headaches, or possibly even injury brought on by the lack of safe vision. If wearing prescriptive contact lenses is uncomfortable for you, ask your doctor about trying another brand or other alternatives, like switching from contact lenses to eyeglasses or exploring corrective surgery.
* Clean and store your contact lenses as prescribed. Different types of lenses require special care and certain types of products. Always use the eye care products recommended by your health care provider. Some eye products or drops are not safe for contact lens wearers.
* Always store your contact lenses in a clean case in fresh solution, as recommended by your doctor.
* Clean your contact lens case after each use with either sterile solution or boiling water.
* Always use commercial sterile saline solutions for rinsing your contacts or to dissolve enzyme tables. Never use plain water on your contacts, and never put your contacts in your mouth to "rinse" them. Microorganisms can live in even distilled water and can cause infection or damage sight.
* Clean your contact lens by rubbing it gently with your index finger in the palm of your hand. The newest "no rub" solutions allow you to rinse your lenses only.
* If you develop an eye infection (signs include redness, burning, or excessive tearing), remove your contacts and discontinue use until you talk with your eye care specialist. Wearing a contaminated pair of contact lenses will invite the infection to remain. After resuming contact lens use, closely follow your doctor鈥檚 instructions to help prevent future eye infections.
* Wearing contact lenses may cause your eyes to become more sensitive to sunlight. Wear sunglasses with total UV protection and/or a wide brim hat when in the sunlight.
* Never wear another person鈥檚 contacts, especially if they have been worn before. Using them may be a hazard if they are a different prescription and can also spread any bacteria, infection, or particles from their eyes to yours.
* To keep your eyes lubricated, use a rewetting solution or plain saline solution.
* Do not sleep with your contacts in unless you have been prescribed an "Extended wear" material. While the eyes are closed, tears cannot carry healthy amounts of oxygen to the eye. Your contacts will become dry and "stuck" to your eyes if you sleep with them in. If you accidentally do fall asleep with your contacts in, be sure to put eye drops in your eyes and wait a few minutes before trying to remove your contacts.
* Visit your eye care specialist at least once a year. At an annual visit, your eye care specialist will check your contact lens prescription and your overall eye health. Discuss your family medical history with your eye care specialist to prevent vision problems or eye diseases. Your eye care specialist will want to know about your family鈥檚 history of diabetes, glaucoma, cataracts, or macular degeneration. Most diseases that cause vision loss, like glaucoma and diabetes, can be treated or their progression slowed with the proper diagnosis and management.
* Visit your eye care specialist immediately if you have any degree of sudden vision loss, blurred vision, light flashes, eye pain, infection, swelling, unusual redness, or irritation.
Is your husband not aware of the damage that he could do to his eyes?! Contacts are not meant to stay in all of the time. They are meant to be put in in the morning, taken out for showers and other water activities such as swimming, and taken out during the evening. Sleeping with your contacts in can also be EXTREMELY harmful, as your contacts can get stuck or jammed up into your eyelid, etc.
Your husband is making a terrible choice. Have him talk to your eye doctor and have the eye doctor inform him of all of the risks he has been taking, and the consequences.
Good luck!

Laxatives???

I took castor oil at 2:00 PM yeasterday and its now 8:30 AM and nothing happened. I took 2 tbsp and nothing. How long does it take to work. It should have done something right.
Answer:
yeah - should have worked by now..i find a cup of senna tea before bed gets me on the toilet 1st thing in the am - cheap at the drug/health food store - all natural...but not safe to take if you're pregnant
Drink some warm water. You can never tell when that stuff is going to work. Some people take it at 9pm and it doesn't work until 9am.
Depends on your last bowel movement. Sometimes if you have a lazy bowel it may not work then. Questions: Is constipation a problem with you? Do you drink enough liquids? Before trying anything over the counter try a tall glass of prune juice.
Good luck.

Lately my neck has been getting really red, and irratated...Why??

I have a feeling that it's dry because of all the showers that I take. I'll take usually just one at night after I go running. But I played basketball the other day and my neck was burning and it was EXTREMELY red. Does anyone have any advide...because it's embarrassing and anything that would help would be nice. I've tried loading lotion all over my neck, but it doesn't work.

Have you had an impulse to listen to Jeff Foxworthy lately....?

Lately I have been sleeping too much and not hearing my alarms to wake up. I set three of them! What can I do?

And it takes a long time and a Mt Dew or two before I feel awake. I have also lost energy and do not want to do anything.
Answer:
Is it possible that you may have developed sleep apnea? Are you depressed? Research both and either way I would see your doctor.
Get off ByeDR.com and go to bed.
Exercise before you go to bed, and get into bed around 8, but no later than nine. This will ensure that you sleep soundly and that you can sleep for at least 10 hours of sleep if you were to wake up at 6. Use only one alarm, not three because the three alarms desensitizes you. If you can use a cell phone to wake you up, do so. Set it do a different ring than you're used to, turn it on the vibrator too, if it will let you, and place the phone somewhere you can't reach for it and turn it off in your sleep.

Enjoy your sleep and I hope you wake up well rested!
Do you get enough sleep? Are you going to bed at a decent hour? It sounds like you may have a lot of stress in your life and may have some symptoms of depression. I would talk to your doctor and make sure. Here is a link that may be helpful....
Poor sleep hygiene, not getting to bed at the right time, to much caffeine, stress and just staying up to late at night can all be factors. Make an appointment with your MD, lay off the Mt. Dew and keep a sleep journal. Getting exercise on a regular basis won't hurt either.
Don't sleep very late.
Wake up early in the morning.

Tell someone to wake you up
(people are better than alarm clocks)

Do it for about a week or so, so that your BODY CLOCK will return to normal.
1. Make sure you are getting enough sleep. Try to get at least 8 hours average of sleep. If you have been averaging 6 hours for instance, you may need to catch up on sleep, so try sleeping 9 or 10 hours for a night or 2 to see if you feel better.

2. Make sure all of your alarm clocks are working. Just in case.

3. Try hiding one or more of the alarm clocks. I used to have 2
or 3 alarm clocks myself, and when I knew I was getting less sleep than I needed, I would always hide one so that I would have to wake up enough to find it in order to turn it off.

4. Gradually wean yourself off caffeine as much as possible. Caffeine withdrawal can cause fatigue as well as headaches.
I used to have the equivalent of about 10 to 12 cups of coffee daily in college, but have now (with encouragement from my doctor) weaned myself down to about 2 to 4 cups daily.

5. Depression can cause fatigue. If you have been feeling sad for no reason, or feeling helpless or hopeless, you may be depressed. See a doctor for treatment if you are depressed.
You can try to do self-hypnosis as you go to sleep each night. First, you've got to be really relaxed and you begin this by breathing deeply and slowly inward and then exhale out your mouth by slowly blowing out your air. Do this until you don't have to think about it anymore, maybe 10 times or so. Then, in your mind, tell yourself that when the first alarm goes off in the morning, you will hear it and awaken, not needing the other two. Think this over and over until you finally fall asleep. It worked for me. It's a mind over matter thing, sort of. Anyhow, you may be over tired, but sleeping too much will only make you more tired. And you may be needing something more in your diet, like iron, potassium, folic acid, etc. Try taking a really good multi-vitamin and an extra potassium supplement each day. You can also take B-12 daily to give you more energy. Many stores carry several varieties of energy drinks and this might also help. If you are stressed out a lot, or depressed, you tend to feel the way you are feeling, too. If it continues, you should see your doctor and get some tests to figure out the cause. Not all things work for all people, so I am only suggesting these things to try if you want to. I hope something works out for you from one or more of my suggestions. I'm really sorry you're feeling out of sorts. Take care, okay?

Lately I am getting like little electric shocks that jolt me when I am just sitting there for no reason..like?

a tiny second or two jolt of electricity that causes a slight jerk.

I was recently diagnosed with periodic limb disorder, an involuntary jerk/flex of the legs in one's sleep thought to be related too little dopamine (just like Parkinsons is involuntary).

Could they be related or what might cause this. I think I have had the periodic limb thing for a long time as sleep lab technicians mentioned it but doctor never afddressed until a week ago. So far I did no drug treatment as I am afraid to take requip but have tried some natural treatments.

Have you ever heard of this electrical shock thing in your body unrelated to anything you are doing. Do you think it is dangerous?
Answer:
Some people are a copper top. Breathing ionized air, caused by some fluorescent lights, or uv, or xray, can have you sucking in a charge all day. After a while, you can get pretty charged up, after a week you can blow out lights. Imagine a xray suite, a standard chest xray gets up to 125 KV/at a few amps. Ionizes the air all the way to target, say 72 inches of air, all ionized. One works in the room and is shielded from the 40 mrems or so, but not from the KV, and then breaths the air , all day, every day. One can get a little bit of voltage built up. Be the life of the party. Blow up steroe gear, lights, computers, freak people right out. Best.
You may want to ask your doctor to see a neurologist. This sounds like a pinched nerve or perhaps a benign fasciculation. I wouldn't worry too much, your body has thousands of miles of nerves and sometimes their connections get messed up. Good luck though...
its you body just starting to relax and become slowed down .Its like a spasm but normal when you have had an active long day.
First of all, go after medical help. Consult a MD.
As for the electric shocks, check the possibility of static electricity. It often happens when the air is dry and you were in an carpeted room, as most offices nowadays. This problem you can solve simply by touching any metal object connected to the ground using something metallic, as a coin, from time to time.

Feel good.
I have had electrical shocks before during a time period of about 1 yr. It was really strange because whenever I would turn my head quickly,I would not only feel a shock but I could actually see the electrical static (bolt) from my neck. Along with that I would feel a numbness on the side of my neck. It hasn't happened in yrs. now. All I can do is share my story with you. I hope things work out for you.
I am having zaps due to Paxil withdrawal.

I see you added me to your contacts. I will try to add you too but it won't let me right now. I will keep trying.

And I hope you get better.

Lately every time I eat ,I get a acid like taste in my mouth. It almost taste like vomit. What's causeing this

This has been going on for a week.Never has happend before.
Answer:
its called acid reflux/ sounds like you need to get some sort of anti-acid medication or stay away from spicy rich foods for a while.see if it resolves, also line your stomach with milk before eating that helps too
sounds like acid reflux have you gained weight lately?try sleeping with another pillow to raise your head and stop the acid coming up into your throat
IT MAY BE ACID REFLUX. CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR FOR A PRESCRIPTION A.S.A.P.
I am not sure but maybe you should answer this...is the taste an after taste or just the taste? What type of food are you eating? Are you allergic to any foods? Do you brush your teeth and tongue regularly? Maybe you should change the brand of toothpaste you use.

You may be experiencing food poisoning or perhaps something you ate caused that reaction. If you are unsure of the answer to those questions perhaps you should see a doctor to make sure you are okay.

Last time I flew, I was reading, I looked up& felt like I was going to faint. Flying again, what can I do?

Answer:
Did you look from the book to out the window, or something far away? That freaks out your system sometimes. Or your body may just be complaining that it's sitting in one place in a place shorter of oxygen that it gets on the ground. This sounds stupid, but I have found you can get your circulation up by tensing muscles, for me I push up against the seat belt. I try not to read much on the plane, if there is any sensation of motion at all I spend the time looking out the window. Everybody is different though, and what works for me may not for you. Some antihistamine like dramamine may help, and make sure you're not dehydrated.
don't look up!
Go to dr as they have meds for this or it might be your blood pressure
I hope your not the pilot! LOL
You might have a touch of motion sickness. Next time you fly, get some Dramamine... read the instructions and take a dose as directed. You can get it at any pharmacy or even places like Wal-Mart. It really helps me when flying, or even those fast moving carnival rides.
Well, if it is the reading, the you might need a different pasttime on the plane. Or you might just need some motion sickness medicine, which you can get at any store. Talk to you doctor too, if there is time, just in case. :-)

Last night my body goes numb that i can't even move. What's wrong?

Last night while i was asleep i remember having a very bad dream but i can't recall it. THen suddenly my body goes numb and i can't move. The numbness is overwhelming even if I'm half awake i can't move a muscle. I tried to move my finger then the numbness stop. I don't know what will happen to my last night if i haven't move my index finger. So what just i experienced?
Answer:
It's called sleep paralysis.

"What is sleep paralysis? Sleep paralysis consists of a period of inability to perform voluntary movements either at sleep onset (called hypnogogic or predormital form) or upon awakening (called hypnopompic or postdormtal form).

Sleep paralysis may also be referred to as isolated sleep paralysis, familial sleep paralysis, hynogogic or hypnopompic paralysis, predormital or postdormital paralysis

What are the symptoms? A complaint of inability to move the trunk or limbs at sleep onset or upon awakening
Presence of brief episodes of partial or complete skeletal muscle paralysis. Episodes can be associated with hypnagogic hallucinations or dream-like mentation (act or use of the brain)."

It's not harmful, just scary.
i dont know i got that but i got rid i dont know how
you were probably just dreaming. you might have still been in the twilight state (sort of in between sleep and awake) which is why you felt like you're actually awake but you felt numb. when you moved your finger you woke up completely.
Maybe you were sleeping funny, bad circulation might have caused a better part of your body to fall asleep. If the numbness was severe and lasted longer, I would've said it was a stroke, but if you're well enough to post this and it isn't recurring then it was probably just grogginess, an out-of- body experience, or a few limbs falling asleep like I said. You could've even been dreaming when it happened.
Its called sleep paralysis. I have had it, its often called Night Nurse paralysis by nurses.
You are asleep but parts of your brain are awake and functioning and it feels like you are awake. I know from experience it is very scary but it will not do you any harm.

Last night I suffered from horrible ear pain. The ER doc. said I had an ear infection. The pain stopped but it

but it still feels muffled. This morning when I woke up I start bleeding from my ear, is this the infection coming out or did my ear drum rupture??
Answer:
Go back to the doctor. Ear infections don't bleed, unless you have been shoving something in your ear and have punctured your eardrum!
It could be either. You need to see a doctor, again.
Go to your primary care doctor...ER doctors treat and release as quickly as possible to make you comfortable until you can see your regular doctor. Do not hesitate!!!! Bleeding from the ear is not good.
I get ALOT of ear infections and you sounded like you had an ear infection at first but when you said it started bleeding it sounded like something else-what...? i have no clue. But I would recommend going back to your doctor and getting this checked out. But in the meantime don't be touching your ear sticking anything in it e.g your finger, cotton buds nothing. Just clean your ear up with some warm water and a cloth. Then hopefully your doc will give you something to clear this up. good luck!

Laser eye treatments..?

why are people going on about cutting the eyes open.. i thought they only used the lasers..
Answer:
i work for a company that povides laser eye surgery.
There are actually 3 commonly used methods for performing the treatment.
You can cut the top layer to laser, TOTALLY painless btw
A laser can do this, this is called Intralase
Alchol can be put on your eye and your eye will be lasered from there.

All the treatments are equally painless and sucessfull. ive had my eyes lasered myself and the results are FANTASTIC.
i saw Jessica Simpson getting it done on newly weds, it looks so scary, especially when they take a bit of film off the eye first. Eew!
I want laser eye treatmets simple because I need a perscription for one eye only and glasses are a pain...contacts will end up being a pain too. In the end (once I can get it) it'll be worth it! : )
I had this surgery 4 years ago...best thing I ever did. They do have to cut the eye then they fold it back then use the laser to reshape the eye. Then they put the flap back over and it connects again. You can immediately see. Amazing.

Laser eye surgery?

i am thinking of having it done but im a bit worryd about how painfull it may b? i also seen a video on youtube (that almost made me sick) of someone having it done, i dont fancy someone shaving my eyeball with a razorblade.... does this HAVE to b done as i know there are diffrent methods of doing it.
Answer:
Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges Laser surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Fly2india4health Consultants. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. I have also read that they arrange financing for international patients, as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by the stinking NHS.

They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor I personally believe that your Dental surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of Healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got her Dental surgery done there and she is more than very happy with the results. She is all praise for Fly2india4health Consultants. She paid just 20% of the cost what she was quoted in USA and it was like a wonderful vacation for her. Hope this helps

My friend had it done but they didnt shave his eye. He look at a light for 5 min and it was done. There is no pain involved and he would do all over again. You wont regret it.

What should I expect before, during, and after surgery?
http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/lasik/expect.htm...
My wife had it done last year. They only had to cut one eye and the other had the laser work without cutting. They gave her a valium ( as they do with everybody ) and she was fine. She said it didn't hurt and everybody that has had it done that we know has said the same thing, and they have all said how pleased they were about having got it done.

You should be able to talk to the surgeon doing it before making the decision to put any fears you have to rest.
there is a new way they do it called intralase. The flap is created with a laser instead of a razorblade. Its way more money that way, heals a bit faster.
i have had it done and i have found some days are worse than before i had the surgery. I paid 拢395 each eye i have now got to go and have a correction operation.
Good luck
My mom had it done. She never really said it hurt. She says it is worth it. She wore glasses for 35 years and doesnt have to at all now!
I got it done for both of my eyes. It is not painful as we would be given anaesticia before the surgery. However, you may experience a slight pain when you were given the anaesticia as it is injected to your eye lids. If you bear that pain (for about few seconds), you can happily proceed for the surgery.
You wll still feel the pessure on the eye that something is being done on it. Also, you will be uncomfortable for about few minutes when they put a clip that keeps your eye-lids open during the surgery.
You will see what is being done on the eye for about 5 minutes. Afterwards, it blacks out for the rest of the surgery. It took only about 20 to 25 minutes for my surgery.
For the first 3 das, you will feel discomfort with your eyes watering and blurring. In about 4 days from the surgery, the vision gets improved and you will get perfect vision in another few days (total about 7 to 9 days)
Its painful to think than getting it done.
Go for it Stacey!
i had it done 4 years ago and it doesn't hurt, when the procedure has been done it feels like you have a dry contact lens in, they give you pain killers and eye drops to rehydrate the eyes......best thing i ever did !
The only thing that shocked me was the smell of the laser it smelt of burning but it was over within 10 mins.
Talk to a consultant and then ask lots of questions !
Lasik involves cutting the front of the eye, lasEk uses ethyl alcohol to melt away the front of the eye.
Don't choose your surgeon based on price. Get a referral from your optometrist, as they'll have to deal with any problems you may be left with. Some surgeons will be happier to operate on 'difficult' cases, while others will consider this taking your money and having a bash. Discuss all of your concerns with your optometrist, and again with the surgeon. If they are reluctant to operate, just accept this and try contact lenses.

Laproscopic appendectomy?

I am scheduled to have an appendectomy on Tuesday. I am wondering what to expect. I have never had surgery before and am somewhat nervous. I am also wondering if there is a possibility of complications because I am overweight.
Answer:
Laproscopic surgery is not scary at all! I had it a few years ago, and was back on my feet and running around the house the same day. You're suppose to take it easy - but I felt THAT good! The worst part was I had trouble with nausea as the general wore off. Otherwise, you'll be healed before you know it, and should just have a few tiny scars (I have three, barely noticable - one in belly button!). Good luck! It'll be ok.
Hey, Laproscopic Apendectomy is EASY!!

i had the old fashioned kind, where they make a 4 inch incision and cut away... But nonetheless, it is a standard procedure that doctors perform every day all across the nation.

The laparoscopic (minimally invasive) surgical technique involves making several tiny cuts in the abdomen and inserting a miniature camera and surgical instruments. IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT YOUR WEIGHT IS ;)

Lap. Apendect. is the way to go!

The main advantages are:
Less post-operative pain
Faster recovery and return to normal activity
Shorter hospital stay
Less post-operative complications
Minimally sized incisions/scars

Preoperative tests may be ordered depending upon your medical condition and the type of anesthesia planned for your surgery.
The surgery is usually performed in an emergency basis.
Blood tests, electrocardiogram (EKG) or chest x-ray may be ordered.
Ask for extra help at home after surgery.

Since this is your first surgery, you may be kinda scared. But worry not, these are professionals doing the work! It is a common surgery, and not easy to mess up. Ask the doctors any questions you have! And it helps if you listen to the nurses after surgery- they get that from every other patient, too. Smile, pretend like they're your friend, and relax.
there is nothing to wory about it
it will be 4 small incisions
very rare complications
You'll be fine. My friend went though one a few years ago and had her gallbladder removed at the same time. And hers was an emergency surgery. She too is overweight, but that didn't cause any problems. She did throw up afterwords from the anesthesia, but her whole family has problems with that stuff. And she healed up fairly quick, too. As yours is scheduled and not a rush job everything should just fine. Good luck.

Ladies please help!!! why is she doing this!?

Messed up!?
i was with my friend nancy. she is 55 and im 15. i had to spit out my icecream cuz i had too much in my mouth. the icecream was so good that i stuffed my face. her window was open and i spit it pass her and she caught my spit with her mouth and gulped it. eww! i asked her why and she said she didn't want it to ruin her car. she said that the spit tasted good. i swear she is over obsessive about her 50,000 car. she risked her life for that car!then she ate some flags. they are green and silky. it's 100 grams of protein for one flag. she put six in her mouth at once. her mouth looked like she swallowed two people. one flag was hanging out of her mouth and it looked like she had a beard. i pulled the flag off of her chin and i heard something pop really loud! what was that? her jaw cracking? then she immediatley pulled over and started to cough and gag really loud. was she choking? i saw five piles of green slime. then she left and continued to drive. what's that all about?
Answer:
Where do you meet your friends? I think she may be nuts. Find some friends your own age....that dont eat flags...
WTF!! I truly hope this is a dumb joke.
you little TWIT, grow up and get a life $50,000 indeed! you were with an alien, now move on!
HA HA HA!!!!! I would've loved to see that!

Ladies or medical people?

Any advice for getting rid of retained water? My eyes are puffy and feet a bit too.
Answer:
Knowing your age would be helpful and also whether your problem was cyclic or constant. Unfortunately it would also be useful to know your weight.

It is quite common for women to retain water pre-period, which settles afterwards, a mild over the counter diuretic like aquaban might help this.

If the fluid retention is constant it would be sensible to get a check up as kidney or heart problems can also cause it.

Last but not least, the single commonest cause of fluid retention in women is I am afraid being overweight.
Sounds like you need a diuretic. See your GP or ask your pharmacist
I know this is going to sound weird. But if you are retaining water, it means you are not getting enough water in your system. You need to drink more water!
Use a sweat suit that you can buy from Argos.
drink water and walk around the block a few times. dont eat alot of salt and stay away from soda( espec. diet soda)
They sell over-the-counter diuretics so ask your pharmacist which one would be good to take. Drink lots of water while taking the diuretic to flush your system out.
the herbal tablets from holland and barret are really good but cut back on salt, and plenty of exercise will shift any excess water. hope that helps!
i would recommend taking horse chestnut tablets, they have been proved to significantly reduce inflammation of the arteries/ capilleries and increase circulation, and can also reduce odema (water retention) in the body,. You have to increase your water intake to actually reduce the retention, as your body tends to hold water when deyhdrated. I swear by these as i get water retention at the time of the month and they have helped alot.
Fresh broccoli
For a short term fix you can try drinking cranberry juice, it is a natural diuretic. Or you can go by Diurex it is an over the counter pill that also helps. If you retain water regularly it could be a hormone imbalance. You should see your doctor, or even an endocronologist. Good luck..
hi,theres not really a lot you can do,except take diuretics, but these can give you a crampy feeling in the abdomen and youll be peeing constantly, when you go to bed raise your head and your feet slightly, try it,it really works, good luck.

Lactose intolerant?

a little over a week ago, i found that drinking milk gave me diarrhea. so i started drinking soy milk, is it ok for me to drink normal milk again? or is it like permanent? my cousin was lactose intolerant and had to drink lactose-free milk for a while and he drank normal milk again.
Answer:
Was that a sudden thing, or have you noticed gassiness and abdominal discomfort in the past after drinking milk? Have you had the stomach flu lately?

Sometimes you can outgrown the lactose intolerance; my son did after he got to college.
For now, you can drink lactose-free milk, and when you have other dairy products like ice cream, you can take a Lact-aid tablet. That's what my daughter and I have to do with any dairy products, including butter (but excluding yogurt with live cultures).
It's hard to say if or when you may outgrow it. You'll have to experiment with small amounts of regular dairy to see how they affect you.
If you are truly lactose intolerant you will never be able to drink it without taking something for it such as Lactaid pills, without getting sick to your stomach
start wuth small sips, wait for a few hours then build up to a cup of milk. you may have eaten something that goes bad with milk.
Soy milk is good for a while.
After that, try to get back to regular milk, but do it slowly. There are people who will not produce the necessary enzymes to digest milk (such as 90% of Asians!).
If you start very slowly, a quarter of a glass a day, for 2 weeks, than increase another quarter to a total of half a glass and after a month go to one glass. If that does not produce bloating or diarrhea, you can keep it up. If not, stay away from all milk products with lactose. Buy lactose free, or buy the pills that help you to digest lactose (such as Lactaid).
You are probably lactose intolerant. Try drinking whole milk and if you start having trouble breathing or get sick the next day you are. Try eatting yogurt and cheese to see if it is just milk.
IT VARIES. YOU CAN DRINK REGULAR MILK BY ADDING DROPS TO THE MILK. ASK YOUR PHARMACIST. NO PRESCRIPTION IS NEEDED. I THINK IT IS CALLED LACTAID
I wouldn't take it as a biggy because even though its a harsh lifestyle change there are alternatives to dairy. I'm intolerant to wheat, dairy and gluten and somehow i've coped so i don't think it'll make too much of a difference apart from when eating out. But I really don't think you should self diagnose yourself as permanently lactose intolerant, instead of coming on here for the answer, honestly, you should go and see a doctor.

L WENT TO THE DOCTORS WITH A BAD HEAD COLD YET SHE TOOK MY PANTS OFF AND TOLD ME T0 COUGH?

should i report her to the medical council for this malpractice i feel violated and dirty.
Answer:
I'm sure I know you...Have we been out before?
The avatar's gotta go! It's just........gross. lol
with an ars e like that im surprised she didnt get a disease!!!!!!! u have a an Sti dont ya lol卢!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you silly man
yes report this to a parent first there is no need for u to take off your pants and cough report it imedetly
You not only feel dirty you look it too. As for violated, that butt should definately get one.
I have seen it before, it's horrible.
If she was truly an MD then you should not feel violated or dirty. She has done this to many men and it is part of a routine exam. Feel lucky that you have a doctor who examines thoroughly rather than some guy or gal who doesn't really care and doesn't even use a stethoscope on your chest and back....like my doctor.
Yip thought SO. Even the doc needs to check and see if you have any balls, ya Fanny..
your actually thats all you were told to do..id shrug it off...theres lots worse you can go through. where i live most liberals in power usually just tell me to bend over and take it...i have no clue what that means obviously but it sounds more severe so i thought id mention it.
Atishoo! What's her address???

Knee replacement surgery and infection?!?

My grandma had a knee replacement surgery in September. Now her knees are hurting when shes walking around sometimes they hurt even if she sits down. The doctor said it could be infection but he isn't sure even though they did an x-ray on her they said it looks like infection. Doctor said that if its infection she would have to get 2 surgery's in the knee, i am very worried!! i love her so much and she gets very week when she goes in for the surgery like when she got the surgery in September she got really weak and had diarrhea for couple weeks.. i am very worried!! is this something to worry about or will everything be all right?!
Answer:
She should be OK. This type of surgery takes a while for the body to get use to the changes especially if you are older.
No one can give you the peace you are seeking that is known to man, other than Jesus Christ. A knee replacement is bad enough, but to have an infection is certainly going to delay her healing. I have three Friends that has had this surgery, one of them had no problems. The two remaining both ended up with infections and a second surgery had to be done.

Ask God to spare your Grandmother the pain and the speed up the healing..She will definitely need someone to clean and dress her knee daily. Lay this at the feet of Jesus, trusting and believing that your Grandmother will be just fine.

My Grandmother died when I was a teenager and I have never
been at peace with it. Although she was a Godly woman, I just miss her.

If it is ok I will pray for your Grandmother.

Knee problem?

Two days ago my bf got up on a strange way and his knee hurted in that moment. And yesterday in the morning while he was going to the kitchen he fell on a gorund as he lost strenght in that knee. From then he feels a bit of the pain when he moves it and can't put his weight on it...but it is not swallen or anything strange as that, he just feels a bit of a weakness, its not even hurting as it would be expacted, he sais the bigest thing he feels is just weakness.....can somebody tell me what it is and what he can do? (besides going to the doctor, as he can go only at monday)

Thank you in advance!
Answer:
minus any discomfort and plus the feeling of weakness, i would think something is pinching a nerve either in the knee or somewhere that would lead to the knee
the nerve may be being pinched when something, bone or cart ledge, moves and pinches it which could explain why it isn't weak or numb constantly.
i'm not a doctor but i have stayed at the holiday inn express - :)
Elevate the leg, put cold compresses on it and rest it until he sees the doctor. It could be that a ligament have moved causing the weakness, this is more likely if he a regular sports player

Knee pain ever since waking up yesterday?

I woke up yesterday with really bad pain in my knee. It feels hot to touch compared to the other one, but doesnt seem to be swollen etc..
It really hurts when bending, straightening and even just sitting still. I have had it before, about 6 months ago when it lasted for a week then disappeared. It really is very painful and I can hardly walk, any ideas what it could be??
I didn't injure it, just woke up in agony!
Answer:
you should seek medical advice cos if it is hot to touch it could indicate a infection! Good luck
its rheumatism it will be OK again tomorrow
I don't know what the cause of your knee pain might be, since you say you don't believe you've ever injured it, but studies show that changes in the barometer do cause pain for some people. This link offers some possible explanations.

http://www.newscientist.com/backpage.ns?...
Hope you get better real soon good luck!!!!!!
Try a knee support. From almost any chemist or superdrug etc. While you are there you will also see some ointments. In boots you can even get good advice on them, too! GL HTH

Kirkland Signature's medicine???

i had running nose last week and i took those kirkland signature's medicines for cold/running nose for 2 days. After that, i got worse. really worse. my nose was completely blocked, up to the point that i had to breathe by my mouth sleeping. i found myself waking up in the middle of the night with my mouth wide open n my tongue dried up like a dessert. i stopped taking the medicine n actually got better.
what kinda company is kirkland signature? i know costco sells a lot of their stuff. shouldnt they be messing around wit medication if they dont know how to? cuz it seems to me that they specialize in toilet paper. anyways, this is lame. anyone has any feedback from the company? ima avoid their products from now on.
Answer:
Kirkland is Costco's own label. They get their medications from somebody else. It will vary by medicine, but in general the source is going to be the same place that any supermarket or drugstore would get their store brand.

And given the scrutiny these drugs get because of how many people use them, you can be confident that the drug(s) in them is/are exactly as advertised. Medications like this are highly regulated, as opposed to, say, herbal remedies.

Your experience had nothing to do with the brand of medicine. You could have taken any brand, it would have been the same. Who knows, maybe if you hadn't take anything it would have been even worse! Sometimes colds are like that.

Fortunately, we all get over colds after a few days, just as you did. The fact that it happened when you stopped taking the medicine was coincidence: it was going to happen anyway.

But man, that cottonmouth thing in the middle of the night sucks.

(Decongestants and the like do not help you get better, nor do they make you stay sick longer. They just alleviate the sysmptoms some.)

And FWIW, I started using zicam, not the nose gel stuff that can make you lose your sense of smell, I use the dissolving tablets: that stuff really works for me. It is the only clinically proven medicine to reduce the duration of a cold, but I'm still surprised at how well its worked for me.
They can reduce symptoms of a virus however only time heals
Well...Kirkland's Signature is the store brand for Costco. I am guessing that you took a pill that is part pseudoephedrine? Or perhaps diphenhydramine? For a runny nose that is that bad you may want to try some saline nasal spray, which is just basically salt water, but follow these steps to rinse out the blockage: get a box of tissue and the bottle of saline nasal spray, take the saline nasal spray and gently spray 2-3 sprays into the nostril. Blow your nose. This is basically a rinse and repeat type thing until your nose feels better. If that doesn't help at all I suggest getting a prescription for some Atrovent nasal spray (don't screw around with the steroid nasal sprays because they aren't as quick). I wouldn't avoid Kirkland Signature medications from now on like you said though because you just have to take what is appropriate for your symptoms. Medicines, even over-the-counter ones, are held to certain standards by law. Hope you feel better.

Kids And Baths?

Do you believe that when you kids are sick with a cold, cough, fever, earache those kinds of illnesses that when you give them a bath they get worse? Whenever my kids are sick and take a bath they always seem to get worse any one know why? Or is it just my kids?
Answer:
no this is normal anytime the body lose heat the cold/illness works against them
Baths always make my son (and myself for that matter) feel better. You may need to adjust the temperature accordingly.
caramba, diseases are temptation for our health,
i think you are just one of the overconcerned parents
My son doesn't get worse with a bath...but he doesn't like it when he's sick.

All kids are different. Trust your mom gut as it is always right.
Germs make people sick, not the temperature of things.

Kidney pain?

My son, age 15, came to me complaining of pain in the area of his kidneys. I asked if it was sharp pain or an ache and he said it felt like someone was pressing on them. I asked him to drink some water and he said he'd been drinking water all morning (he was at a friend's wrestling tournamont). He doesn't have fever or feel ill, just hurts.

What should I watch for or do for him?
Answer:
Hi I'm 17 and I had,acually I still have kidney pain too.
I went to the Er and I winded Up getting a cat scan and I had kidney stones.
That probably is the case for your son. He has to go to an er right away to get it checked out because no medicines in a pharmacy can help that.
I'd find out if he'd been wrestling too as you only said he was in attendance.
If he's bruised it'll get better, but once you find out if he had been wrestling too or not you'll know better what to look for.

If he hasn't been and it continues, you would probably want to take him to the doctor.
He might have done too much excersise and drank way too much water. I'm in the military and every time we do intense trainning and drink lots of water it always happens. The body could only hold 12 quarts of water a day. Anything more then that can be deadly. Just have him rest and maintain his feet elevated.
it could just be growing pains
but when he goes for a wee ask if he has any pain while weeing and ask if its a dark colour or if it burned if he has any off those it could mean he has a water infection.
if he still has the pains within 24hrs book an appointment at teh doctors to be on teh safe side
call your doctor now or go to the er . pain is telling you somethings wrong. Cranberry juice helps.
He needs to drink a TON of non-carbonated fluids such as water and juice. There is a chance that he has a kidney infection or possibly a kidney stone. If it gets any worse or he starts experiencing other symptoms (burning in urination, traveling pain, etc), then he needs to go see his doctor pronto.
Hes probably just got an infection my brother sons gets them all the time. If it painful when he takes a deep in take of breath it could be that. Check his urine get a sample take it to the Dr he will take another sample

Just to confirm the kidneys are not in the lower back. Unless some evolutionary change as taken place whilst I was away
yeah get a doctor
Is he able to urinate without pain? Maybe he got into the wrestling ring. Guys do that messing around.
As long as he is able to put out the amount he intakes, that means his kidneys are still functioning.
I would be concerned if it didn't go away by tomorrow or if the pain increases. I would take his temp anyway, you never know, sometimes you can have a temp and not know it.
Does it hurt to put pressure on that spot? If so I would call the doctor.

Kidney failure...?

why does kidney failure rapidly leads to death?? explanation please...

thank you...
Answer:
Well, you need your kidneys to filter out contaminates and once kidneys start to fail they no longer clean out the body of these contaminates and it builds up.
Zip a Dee is correct, and our organs, including brain, heart and lungs cannot function with the level of impurities that build up in the blood. The nervous system cannot get messages to other parts of the body, and the blood cannot carry oxygen as needed.

Wonderfully, kidney failure do not have to lead to death, there are transplants. Please consider donation, we don't need our organs when we are dead, and they can give others life.

Keeping Shoe Orthotics Clean?

I wear Orthotics in my shoes, recently they have started to smell, (I have had them about 6 months) does anyone have any idea what I might be able to clean them with?

The smell has not come from shoes as I have tried switching them into new pairs and I do not wear them for sports.

The Orthotics are not washable as they must not get wet, and I have already tried using a foot spray and fabreeze on them, both of which just added to the smell actually!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Answer:
I wear them too so I understand. I've always been pleased with the effects of Febreze but you said you've tried that. Try putting Odor Eaters in there on top of them and wear them that way for a while. That may absorb some of the odor. Once you're satisfied with that you can try what I do...I buy Dr. Scholl's padded inserts which feel nice and soft and they wear out in 2-3 weeks and I throw them out for new ones. This way I'm constantly changing out the place where the odor goes. Good Luck!! :)
I have these but only just got them.
Have you tried putting bicarbonate of soda on them, or even talcum powder to absorb any moisture.
I do this to someones shoes that smell. Tip a bit in leave it as long as poss and when the shoes are needed tap them into a bin until its all out. Hope that helps.

Kaiser permanente or aetna?

I am eligible for health coverage at work and dont know which one to choose as my care provider
Answer:
I have an Aetna OpenChoice PPO for my health coverage and over the past few months have been using it a lot. They are pretty easy to work with. They send bills out in a timely manner and aren't really concerned with referrals. Plus, you can check all your statements/claims online whenever you want. I'd recommend finding a group of doctors or a hospital near you and finding out what kind of coverage they accept. Aetna is a flexible and widely used service, so there shouldn't be any problems for you. Just make sure to read over everything your human resources department and the medical company themselves provides for you and ask questions about deductibles and co-pays if you don't understand. The customer service folks are helpful. Good luck and I hope this helped.
If those are your only choices choose death. Well perhaps that is a little too stark. My experience with Kaiser is they are great if you do not need medical care. If you ar hurt you will sit in pain a long time to see a doctor and even then you will probably not see a doctor.

Aetna probably will be a PPO (you must choose your doctor from preferred providers) Some may be good and some not so good.

If you have a doctor that you like and trust ask Him/her if they work with Aetna. If so use Aetna. If not them my first response is probably your real best choice.

Kaiser in Sacramento?

I'm looking for opinions from people in the Sacramento area who have experience with Kaiser (recent - I know they went through some changes in the last few years). I'm especially interested in hearing about people's experience with their pediatricians, as well as how long the doctor usually sees patients for (I'm pretty sick of being rushed through the visit). Do your doctors listen to you? Do they give good advice? Do you feel you can talk to them about what's really bothering you?

Thanks in advance for your advice!
Answer:
I've heard many good and bad things about Kaiser. I've had a particularly good experience with the Kaiser in Rancho Cordova (near Sacramento). Dr Thaddeus Foster is awesome. Not only will he listen to your symptoms, he will educate you. He has the ability to take something extremely scientific and make it easy to understand. The drawback of having him as a physician is that he runs behind sometimes, so if you have an appointment at 4:00 pm, you might not actually see him until 4:45 pm. The reason he runs behind is that he actually takes the time to LISTEN to his patients and think of the very best treatment method.
I really don't believe that there is a doctor anywhere that listens. All they want to do is print out a script and get on to the next patient.

Just wondering- how many people out there like yogurt? For years I HATED it...........?

I hated yogurt up until about 3 yrs ago- I am now 38 yrs old....and ate a yoplait 99% fat free Cherry Orchard yogurt. Dang- it was so good! Chunks of cherry in it, smooth, creamy...mmmm. Maybe I am now converted? But I am still cautious and very picky! Anyone have any better yogurts that they like/love?
Answer:
Yogurt is mostly good for the body. Buy the ones that say "live cultures" in the ingredients. I prefer Dannen!
before i hated yogurt too

today i like the many flavors of yogurt. i only eat yogurts with flavors like mangoes, strawberry, etc. i dont eat the ones with chunks and the plain ones coz theyre not tasty.
i love it... my favorite is blueberry
i love it! the peach and strawberry ones are my favorite!
A lot of people hate yogurt and a lot of people love it too. Why?. Taste is purely relative and personal. I hate chacolates. Doesn't mean that the entire world hates them.

If you keep tasting it (not overdosed), it will only keep tasting better.
Yogurt is an acquired taste. For years I ate yogurt as a daily ritual. Yogurt is very healthy especially for women. The best kind to eat would be the kind with all the live cultures. Eating yogurt can help restore the balance of good bacteria to your va j j and your entire intestinal track.

As far as particular brands, it's really up to the individual.
por a lot of chocolate sauce on it...it taste great
Yoplait is the only yogurt that I like. Cherry Orchard is good along with Peach.
You should have real yogurt - it's one of the healthiest foods on earth.
But your flavoured dessert varieties are totally useless. Have a bar of (black) chocolate instead.
And don't fall for the advertising.

Just slightly worried about arm... :/?

Basically, I recently stopped self-harming and I am extremely proud of myself (even though it has only been a few weeks, and I have done it since I was eight). But the thing is, earlier I tried to jab a pin into my arm (doesn't scar), and I thought I had failed or something because I literally felt NOTHING, but when I looked down it was about half way in, and when I pulled it out there was just like a hole, and it didn't bleed AT ALL, just looked like a small red circle that I couldn't feel at all, which is not normal. But my arm wasn't numb, I could feel it when I touched it with my finger. Does anyone know what that is?
Answer:
Wow!!! That's great that you've managed to avoid self harming for so long.

Don't think of it as a failure- its just a setback.. you've still done really well just to do it once.. try to continue the good work- just doing it once doesn't cancel out all that time does it?

Anyway.. you could have put it into scar tissue and that could be the reason for no pain or blood.

Also- as you'll already have discovered.. different parts of your body bleed more than others.

It's also common for self harmer's not to feel it when they harm themselves, or to feel it less.. we can have great tolerance for pain, esspecially when inflicted on ourselves.
It's called stupidty.
You could have jabbed the pin into scar tissue. This is just dead.
Sweetie you need to get some help you shouldn't be hurting yourself you could do some serious damage please talk to someone and get help
It's sounds like you were dreaming about all this. I don't think you could push a pin in your arm without feeling it and your arm wasn't numb.

Just out of curiosity... up to how long can a drug dog still smell drugs such as marijuana?

I know drug dogs can smell areas where drugs such as cocaine were at up to two weeks after it has been removed? is this true with other substances as well?
Answer:
I think so...they are very trained for this and marijuana has a very stronger smell than cocaine
it is a learned response, they can smell it no matter how long ago they were trained, but if not reinforced for the signaling behavior they could quit "hitting" when they make the scent

Just had a major operation this morning, what should i do?

I had all my major organs removed and the surgeon forgot to replace them, so as you can imagine im feeling a bit empty just now. should i sue?
Answer:
Don't worry they'll grow back
is your brain in your head now and not in your dick!!!
Well you can definitely tell the brain was removed!Lol!
As long as you can tell your RS from your elbow, you'll be ok.
just take a rest until youll well
you need to get down the local pet shop and get one of those hampster wheels and a lively hampster. insert this where the organs were and this should keep you going for a couple of days while you sort out alternative solutions
Good Luck!!
sounds like u need a re-fill !!!!!!!!!!!
Oh! THAT explains a lot!
I am glad you find this funny. My kidneys both failed and I had to wait on the transplant list for a kidney, which I did receive. I hope you never or a close loved one never has to go through this.

You have no idea what it is like to live with a chronic illness and the suffering someone goes through.

Just asking?

anyone do youll have friends or relatives 7ft-8ft some tall in height still living?
Answer:

Yes and you would not believe it but meeeee.
I think my teacher is 7 or less. But she is still living
Nobody that tall in my family.
No. The tallest person is my grandpa and he's about 6.

Joints are jacked up?

My joints snap, pop, and crack especially in my knees and shoulders due to inactivity at least thats what I think. What can I do about it? I know to exercise but what else?
Answer:
try a bong instead of joints, or maybe a pipe.
take glucosamine and chondroiton pills, you can find them at most pharmacies and stores like walmart, they arent cheap but they might help , you are going to have very bad arthritis when you get a little older. im quite crippled up with it.
i say shark cartlige is a good suppliment but a shark has to die to lube your joints

Jet lag/lack of sleep... how to cure?

I have not been travelling, but it's a while it seems I'm living on someone else's time zone... 8 hours over. People go to sleep at 10-11 pm... I can't seem to sleep until 7-8 am, and that's when I have to get up, which makes me sleepless or crashing by 3 pm (and I can't seem to stay awake, even though I try really hard).
Any idea how to fix this thing?
Answer:
Unfortunately the only way through this is to force yourself up until 10 pm it's hard i know i'm in the same boat as i've just came off night shift, but go out for a jog and have a shower just don't get comfortable till about ten and you will be adjusted, good luck it sux i know but it's only one day of adjustment i need to do it alot.
When it reaches 10pm have the biggest joint you have ever had, OR get totally pissed. By the time you wake up it will be morning!

Taa Daa!! yes yes I know i have cured your problem.
take a week off from work and rest the whole time, your body clock will adjust itself
i know this isn't maybe the best way, but have you tried taking something to help you sleep? i have gotten my sleep screwed up if i stay up late or even all night. it can just be one night, but then i seem messed up for days. so i got some stuff to help me sleep and took it an hour before i wanted to go to sleep, make sure you have eight hours to sleep - that way the medicine has a chance to work itself out of your system and you don't feel groggy the next day. don't let yourself take a nap the next day! then hopefully you can go to sleep on your own the next day! i know this may sound simple, but it is what works for me!
I have heard it said by those who do the transatlantic flights that boosting the amount of carbohydrates you eat before and during a journey reduces jetlag and also drinking more water and abstaining from alcohol helps. It is possible in USA to get tablets for jetlag but they are not available over the counter in the UK.

I have personally found that the secret is to stay awake in the country that you have arrived in, until the time in that country that you would normally go to bed.

Jaw pain....all the time?

I have had some pretty bad jaw pain for quite sometime now, I think I have TMJ but have not been diagnosed. It seems gum chewing bothers it even more. Although there is almost constant pain.
Any out there have this problem?
Answer:
I feel your pain.

Ok if your jaw clicks, you probably do have TMJ. The best choice is to talk to orthodontists because they might be able to nonsurgically fix your jaw. The younger you are the better (if you're over 20 it still wouldn't hurt to talk to one : / ) .

no I don't go and see a dentist now.

'Jaw Clicking' - should I be concerned? what is it and how can I stop?

my jaws have clicked as long as I can remember, - - in fact, I think I used to do it for fun when I was a kid (yeah - I know, stupid kid!) anyway, my wife says it is getting worse, louder, I'm 37..

seems that it comes and goes (like, I can't make it click right now) - but happens most often when I am eating..

anybody know anything about this?
Answer:
I have this. It is annoying. My husband get's mad at me for clicking when I eat sometimes. Like I can help it! DUH! The dentist told me that some people just do that. It can cause lock jaw if it clicks the wrong way sometime. But it is VERY RARE! And said not to worry about it, so I don't.
I got it too. You can see a dentist %26 he will try to put your jaw back in line or like me, you can just put up with it.
Mine does the same thing. My Jaw needs to be broken and realigned. At 47 I am not really bothered by it. The TMJ can cause headaches so if it gets bad you should see a Dr.

I have had this for probably 25 years.
my jaw used to click - turned out i had a mild form of lock-jaw that started when I broke my jaw bone - check to see if your tetanus shots are up to date, this may help.
TMJ - Google it and see if you have any of the symptoms. If you don't have any pain or headaches, then you probably can live with it. Your jaw just doesn't line up right and sometimes one side or the other pops out of joint. There is surgery to correct it and a lot of dental insurance companies will cover it if you feel the need to fix it.
hey yeah I had that too and I went to the dentist about it thinking it was because my jaw was not aligned properly but he said it's a normal part of aging just like losing your eyesight - but not everyone gets it. So unfortunately you're kinda stuck with it. But when I went to the dentist he sanded the back of my teeth down like 2millimetres and it made a big difference.. the clicking isn't so loud anymore. It helped but it didn't make it go away. He also said having braces will help too which I am doing in like 3 weeks.
TMJ

You may not have heard of it, but you use it hundreds of times every day. It is the Temporo-Mandibular Joint (TMJ), the joint where the mandible (the lower jaw) joins the temporal bone of the skull, immediately in front of the ear on each side of your head. A small disc of cartilage separates the bones, much like in the knee joint, so that the mandible may slide easily; each time you chew you move it. But you also move it every time you talk and each time you swallow (every three minutes or so). It is, therefore, one of the most frequently used of all joints of the body and one of the most complex.

You can locate this joint by putting your finger on the triangular structure in front of your ear. Then move your finger just slightly forward and press firmly while you open your jaw all the way and shut it. The motion you feel is the TMJ. You can also feel the joint motion in your ear canal.

These maneuvers can cause considerable discomfort to a patient who is having TMJ trouble, and physicians use these maneuvers with patients for diagnosis.

How Does TMJ Work?
When you bite down hard, you put force on the object between your teeth and on the joint. In terms of physics, the jaw is the lever and the TMJ is the fulcrum. Actually, more force is applied (per square foot) to the joint surface than to whatever is between your teeth. To accommodate such forces and to prevent too much wear and tear, the cartilage between the mandible and skull normally provides a smooth surface, over which the joint can freely slide with minimal friction.

Therefore, the forces of chewing can be distributed over a wider surface in the joint space and minimize the risk of injury. In addition, several muscles contribute to opening and closing the jaw and aid in the function of the TMJ.

Symptoms:
Ear pain
Sore jaw muscles
Temple/cheek pain
Jaw popping/clicking
Locking of the jaw
Difficulty in opening the mouth fully
Frequent head/neck aches

How Does TMJ Dysfunction Feel?
The pain may be sharp and searing, occurring each time you swallow, yawn, talk, or chew, or it may be dull and constant. It hurts over the joint, immediately in front of the ear, but pain can also radiate elsewhere. It often causes spasms in the adjacent muscles that are attached to the bones of the skull, face, and jaws. Then, pain can be felt at the side of the head (the temple), the cheek, the lower jaw, and the teeth.

A very common focus of pain is in the ear. Many patients come to the ear specialist quite convinced their pain is from an ear infection. When the earache is not associated with a hearing loss and the eardrum looks normal, the doctor will consider the possibility that the pain comes from a TMJ dysfunction.

There are a few other symptoms besides pain that TMJ dysfunction can cause. It can make popping, clicking, or grinding sounds when the jaws are opened widely. Or the jaw locks wide open (dislocated). At the other extreme, TMJ dysfunction can prevent the jaws from fully opening. Some people get ringing in their ears from TMJ trouble.

How Can Things Go Wrong with TMJ?
In most patients, pain associated with the TMJ is a result of displacement of the cartilage disc that causes pressure and stretching of the associated sensory nerves. The popping or clicking occurs when the disk snaps into place when the jaw moves. In addition, the chewing muscles may spasm, not function efficiently, and cause pain and tenderness.

Both major and minor trauma to the jaw can significantly contribute to the development of TMJ problems. If you habitually clench, grit, or grind your teeth, you increase the wear on the cartilage lining of the joint, and it doesn't have a chance to recover. Many persons are unaware that they grind their teeth, unless someone tells them so.

Chewing gum much of the day can cause similar problems. Stress and other psychological factors have also been implicated as contributory factors to TMJ dysfunction. Other causes include teeth that do not fit together properly (improper bite), malpositioned jaws, and arthritis. In certain cases, chronic malposition of the cartilage disc and persistent wear in the cartilage lining of the joint space can cause further damage.

What Can Be Done for TMJ?
Because TMJ symptoms often develop in the head and neck, otolaryngologists are appropriately qualified to diagnose TMJ problems. Proper diagnosis of TMJ begins with a detailed history and physical, including careful assessment of the teeth occlusion and function of the jaw joints and muscles. If the doctor diagnoses your case early, it will probably respond to these simple, self-remedies:

Rest the muscles and joints by eating soft foods.
Do not chew gum.
Avoid clenching or tensing.
Relax muscles with moist heat (1/2 hour at least twice daily).
In cases of joint injury, ice packs applied soon after the injury can help reduce swelling. Relaxation techniques and stress reduction, patient education, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, muscle relaxants or other medications may be indicated in a dose your doctor recommends.

Other therapies may include fabrication of an occlusal splint to prevent wear and tear on the joint. Improving the alignment of the upper and lower teeth and surgical options are available for advanced cases. After diagnosis, your otolaryngologist may suggest further consultation with your dentist and oral surgeon to facilitate effective management of TMJ dysfunction.
me and my mom both do it and her mom so i think its genetic. i don't think , actually im sure it doesn't hurt, or cause a prblem just don't do it on purpose. But it aggrevates me so much when im eating and my jaw pops, so i know how you feel.
Same thing with me mid 30's clicked all my life. Dentist says not to worry if it has gone on this long as long as it doesn't bother me
Its called TMJ. I have the same thing.Do you suffer from headaches? I have bad headaches sometimes. The dr. said its from that.. He also said some people have it so bad they need surgery.I hate it when I am eating sometimes, people sitting across the room can hear me.
