Is this a migraine?

My 10 year old daughter has a headache everytime we start school from a weekend or a break.
Her headaches have a pattern too-weird right?

Example:

It was Sunday night and she wakes up at 6:15 a.m. to get ready for school on Monday.
Every time we have to start school from a weekend or a break, she ALWAYS has a headache after school.

We just had a President's Day break and school started on Wednesday. After school on Wednesday, she had a huge headache and was crying alot. We gave her Thera Flu,hot soup, and hot coffee but nothing seems to work! What should we do?

Is this a migraine? Can 10 year olds have migraines?

This has been going on since about.......3rd grade and now she is in the 5th grade

She is fine at school. Its not like she is having trouble learning because she got special honor roll. She is shy but still has friends. She doesn't talk alot at school but she talks at home. She does not smoke and no one in our family does either. I AM WORRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Answer:
if the head ache s for more than 2 weeks it is a sympton of migrane. or it may b due to fatigue.
indulge her in other activities which she is interested in like sports,painting.etc.
do consult a physician
she needs to be seen by a physician .... it does sounds like it could be an onset of migraines, but could be other things as well .... take her to see the doctor.
Better see a neurologist.
The key here is to distinguish as much as possible between a behavioral (i.e. stress related) etiology of the headaches, and a psysiological, physical (i.e. tumor) explaination.

With the strong correlation to school, it seems unlikely that a physical anomoly exists. Although the pain is real to her, it's likely psychiatric in nature from my perspective. After the neurologist clears her (catscan of brain), go to a pediatric psychiatric expert in your area.

I wouldn't wait. I'm sure this is very treatable and helping her now will prevent bigger problems later.
Yes, anyone can ge a migraine. Take her to the doctor for a check up since there are so many variables at play w/headaches.
They may want to do a well child check, or maybe she just needs glasses. But this is an excellent reason to call %26 make an appt. Don't mess around and wait.

I don't think smoking would be a factor but I am GLAD you mention that she is not exposed to it. Smoking is not good for anything except the pockets of different corporations.
My 10 year old daughter had the same problem. She came home from school everyday with headaches.
It turns out she needed glasses. She was getting headaches from straining her eyes from looking at the board.
And the coming back from the break part is because her eyes werent use to the strain from looking at the board for a few days.
I just took her to get her eyes tested and eversince she got her glasses, she hasn't had a headache since.
I have had migraines alot just like those for around 3 or 4 years. My mom and grandpa have them also so we think it could be genetics. They both went to the doctors and the doctor said that yes they were migraines. So I would take her to a specialist. I bet they are migraines so I wouldn't worry to much.
